Old-Fashioned Boil Up – Newfoundland Style
Join us this coming Saturday, February 15th from 10-3, for an “Old-Fashioned Boil Up – Newfoundland Style” – as part of this year’s Fundy Frolic.
We will have the soup and chilli pots on at our Brookside Trail behind the Galloway House.
Try your hand at cooking your own “Toutins”, on the fire pit. Newfoundlanders are familiar with this yeast dough type of Bannock. But if you have never tried it, now is your opportunity. Nothing tastes quite like a warm “toutin” slathered in butter and dipped in a bowl of soup or chilli.
Try out the scavenger hunt on our shorter pink loop (1.8 km) for a chance to win a few prizes!
Soup will be $10 and Chilli $12.00 (includes the toutin). Children, 6 and under, are half price. Hot Chocolate will also be available. We encourage you to bring your own bowls, utensils and cups but we will have disposable there as well.
This is a “cash only” event as we will be at the brook and there is no service there.
Scavenger hunt map will be at the Galloway House, take a photo of the map. Washroom facilities are located in the house as well. The trail down to the brook from the Galloway House is 400 metres and there is access through the field as well for those without snowshoes and needing to get a little closer. Weather permitting, trucks and 4 wheel drive vehicles can get within 100 metres of the brook through the field.

Galloway House – 112 LevyEast Rd., Dawson Settlement
